Launched by Governor John G. Rowland in 2000, the Connecticut Inner City 10 Awards are an important part of the statewide Inner City Business Strategy established by the Governor's Competitiveness Council in conjunction with Connecticut's Industry Cluster Initiative. The fundamental purpose of these awards is to celebrate the top 10 fastest-growing inner city companies in Connecticut.

 

Applicants were ranked based on the percentage of increase in the company's gross revenues between 1998 and 2002. To qualify for the Connecticut Inner City 10 awards, Companies had to provide detailed financial documentation.

 

The 10 companies with the highest five-year compounded growth rate were selected as finalists after an extensive review by Coopers Lybrand, one of the country's leading accounting firms, and the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC). ICIC is a nationally prominent, non-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing America's inner cities.

 

OAKLEAF has also achieved a ranking of 10 in 2004 ICIC-Inc. Magazine Inner City 100. This year's Inner City 100 will be held on April 13, 2004 in Boston Mass.
