OAKLEAF Supports Development of The Community

Through sponsorship of the Big Mo' event, OAKLEAF joined forces with Riverfront Recapture, other corporations and organizations to raise funds and awareness to reconnect metropolitan Hartford with the Connecticut River and provide community access to the waterfront.


OAKLEAF's support included an Emerald-level sponsorship and the donation of waste removal services through its branded dumpster program with The Home Depot.

OAKLEAF unveils The Home Depot branded dumpster program for the first time at the International Builders Show in Orlando, Florida. The program offers the convenience of renting dumpsters while shopping for home improvement supplies. It's positioned as a valuable tool for contractors and homeowners who are renovating, remodeling, moving or just cleaning up.

Jodi Rell, proclaims September 27, 2006 "OAKLEAF Day", and presents CEO Jim Barnes with a Governor's Proclamation and General Assembly Citation recognizing OAKLEAF for its contributions to the State of Connecticut. Mayor Melody A. Currey of East Hartford bestows OAKLEAF with a Proclamation on behalf of the Town of East Hartford. In addition, in commemoration of OAKLEAF Day, OAKLEAF grants the Cherish The Children Foundation with a charitable donation.

OAKLEAF showcases case study with xpedx, a paper manufacturer that employed OAKEAF to address its recycling and waste problems. OAKLEAF shows how it successfully decreased its total plant expenses by 10 percent, increased its recycling revenue by 644 percent and reduced its net annual spending on waste by 74 percent.

OAKLEAF acquires Valet Waste, Inc., a provider of door-to-door trash pickup service. Valet Waste services more than 40,000 units in residential communities throughout Florida, Georgia and Alabama. OAKLEAF plans to grow the program nationwide.
